Copy DB structure into a new DB

Hello,
I would like to copy the structure of a DB (tables,relations, indexes,
default values, ecc...) into a new DB on the same server.
I don't want to copy the data in the tables. Is this possible? How?

1. Right click on your source database in Enterprise Manager-->All
Tasks-->Generate SQL Scripts.
2. You can then choose what objects you need to be scripted (lots of options).
3. Create your destination db.
4. Run the generated script.

Here is the key... on the next screen, uncheck "Copy Data"

|||If you use the "Generate SQL Script" function, it won't generate the "DROP"
statements for users and logins though. I wonder if they'll get that fixed
anytime soon?

Copy Database Wizard Default Destination Folder

We have installed Microsoft SQL Server 2005 to the deafult folder. However, we have another larger drive for our database files. We have changed the Server Properties > Database Settings to have the correct "Database default locations" that we want. However, when we use the Copy Database Wizard to bring over the many user databases on our existing server, the wizard always uses the original installation folder as the Destination Folders.

Is this a bug, or is there some way to change the defaults for these folders so we don't have to on every one?

I have the same problem but by mistake I've found a way to modify the destination folder. On the grid with the destination folder click the one with the path. A label will appear over the grid and then you could edit the path. Cheers and hope that this will help you.

Copy Database Wizard (MSSQL 2000)

Trying to copy a mssql 7 db from a NT 4.0 server to a mssql 2000 default instance on a Windows 2003 server using the Copy Database Wizard. The Wizard indicates that the database is OK to copy but that the "Files on the source have the same name as on the destination or there is not enough free disk space on the destination." Both of these statements are false. The db doesn't exsist on the destination and there is no shortage of disk space. Any help?

pse post the full error with error number and description.... BTW it is always better to use Backup/restore to transfer database ...

Copy data from tables with script!

Hello!

I cant figure out how to copy data from tables in my default database to my new automate-generated database.

I can generate Store Procedures, I can generate the Tables but are there anyone one who knows how to copy the data from tables and put it into my new automate-generated shell. The automate-generate funktion i have built just creating a shell/empty database. How to fill it with a sql-script or similar?

Anyone have any tip?

If you mean you want to script out the data into the same script with the DDL for the tables try the Database Publishing Wizard:
